We’re growing our operations and deepening our roots.
Our growth strategy is about more than expansion—it’s about shaping a resilient future. By scaling production, refining operations, and embracing innovation, we’re creating capacity that supports both our business and the planet.
We’re in this for the long-haul.
Our Growth Strategy represents a long-term commitment to continued operations in Saskatchewan, supporting local people, communities, and prosperity for decades to come. Our long-term plan is designed to increase production and create new opportunities over the next 20 years.
Ramp-Up Program
Our Ramp-Up Program is aimed at increasing production at Bethune mine toward 4 million tonnes per year. The program involves a series of projects over time to expand capacity across mining, processing, storage, and logistics to enable increased production.
We’ve broken ground on our first major projects with major construction activity picking up in spring 2026. From then until 2030 and beyond, there will be a steady construction effort to complete the projects required to meet our increased production target.
Secondary mining will serve as the principal method for scaling production.
Beneath the Surface: How We Unlock Critical Minerals
Together these videos showcase how we extract potash using two complementary approaches: primary solution mining and secondary mining.

Our Energy Transformation
Cogeneration
Our cogeneration project is a strategic investment in cleaner, more efficient energy and long-term operational resilience. By generating electricity and steam on-site, we improve process efficiency, reduce emission intensity, and support our global climate commitments.
As part of this project, K+S Potash Canada has entered into a power purchase agreement with SaskPower. Through this agreement, SaskPower will purchase up to 62 megawatts of electricity generated at our Bethune mine, beginning in late 2026 and continuing through 2034. The expanded combined heat and power facility will supply power and steam for our mining operations while also providing reliable electricity to the provincial grid.
Designed with flexibility in mind, the facility creates a strong foundation for future innovation, including the potential for carbon capture, hydrogen use, and even generating steam or drying potash with electricity. It provides baseload heat and power, while also allowing us to incorporate renewable energy, enabling opportunities for Indigenous partnership projects, such as the Wicehtowak Solar project.
This cogeneration investment is a practical, forward-looking step in delivering the K+S Climate Strategy—supporting emissions reduction, enabling potash production growth in Canada, and contributing dependable baseload power to Saskatchewan.
Wicehtowak Renewable Power Project
George Gordon Developments Ltd. (GGDL) is establishing a solar project near our facility. This will be the first Indigenous-owned solar project of its kind in Saskatchewan’s mining sector.
Through Wicehtowak Solar, K+S will purchase more than 60,000 megawatt hours of cleaner power each year to for our operations at the Bethune mine.
We’re proud to support this partnership and continue exploring responsible ways to bring more renewable power to our operations.
Benefits
As we optimize our operations, we’re creating lasting value, not just for the potash industry, but for people and communities across Saskatchewan. Our growth is designed to deliver long-term benefits close to home.
